An Act concerning the New Jersey Transit Corporation and supplementing P.L.1979, c.150 (C.27:25-1 et seq.).

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. In addition to the powers and duties conferred upon it, the New Jersey Transit Corporation shall provide, directly or indirectly, for the erection and maintenance of bus shelters along bus routes operated by the corporation. Upon request, the corporation shall provide, directly or indirectly, for the erection and maintenance of bus shelters along bus routes operated by a carrier other than the corporation.

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill would make the New Jersey Transit Corporation responsible for the erection and maintenance of bus shelters along bus routes operated by the corporation. The bill further provides that upon request, the corporation would be required to erect and maintain bus shelters along bus routes operated by a carrier other than the corporation.
