An Act concerning the testing of amateur boxers and supplementing P.L.1985, c.83 (C.5:2A-1 et seq.).

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. a. Notwithstanding any law, rule, regulation or order to the contrary, no person shall participate in an amateur boxing exhibition, event, performance or contest in this State unless the person submits to an initial test determined by the Amateur Boxing Federation to be appropriate to detect Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) or infection with the Human Immune Deficiency Virus (HIV).

    b. If the results of any initial test are positive, the person shall submit to supplemental testing as the federation determines is appropriate.

    c. If the results of the supplemental testing are positive, the person shall be prohibited from participating in any amateur boxing exhibition, event, performance or contest within this State.

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill requires any person who wishes to participate in an amateur boxing exhibition, event, performance, or contest in this State to submit to an initial test, as determined by the Amateur Boxing Federation, to detect Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) or infection with the Human Immune Deficiency Virus (HIV).

    If the results of the initial test are positive, the bill requires the person to submit to supplemental testing, as determined appropriate

by the federation. If the results of the supplemental testing are positive, the person shall be prohibited from participating in any amateur boxing activity in this State.
