      The Assembly Appropriations Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 1732, with committee amendments.

      Assembly Bill No. 1732, as amended, appropriates $2,235,928 from the "Stormwater Management and Combined Sewer Overflow Abatement Bond Act of 1989" to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the purpose of providing grants to local government units and in particular the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commissioners. They are authorized by statute to collect, treat and dispose of sewage for municipalities in parts of Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union counties, for financing the cost of the planning of combined sewer overflow abatement projects.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

      This bill, as amended, appropriates from the "Stormwater Management and Combined Sewer Overflow Abatement Fund" $2,235,928 to DEP for grants to the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commissioners.

 

COMMITTEE AMENDMENTS:

      The committee amended the bill at the request of the sponsor as suggested by the department to reduce the amount from $2,484,364 to $2,235,928.
