An Act concerning education and supplementing chapter 6 of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. a. A board of education may provide for the administration of children's vitamins to any pupil who meets the Statewide eligibility standards established by the State Board of Education for free and reduced price meals under the State school lunch program upon the written consent of the pupil's parent or guardian.
b. The State Board of Education shall establish guidelines for the administration of vitamins pursuant to this act.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill provides that a board of education may provide for the administration of children's vitamins to any pupil who meets the Statewide eligibility standards for free and reduced price meals under the State school lunch program upon the written consent of the pupil's parent or guardian. The purpose of this bill is to supplement the diet of pupils with essential nutrients they may otherwise not receive.
Permits a board of education to administer vitamins to certain pupils.
