STATEMENT TO

ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR

ASSEMBLY, Nos. 1976 and 1935

with Assembly Floor Amendments

(Proposed By Assemblyman CORODEMUS)

ADOPTED: JUNE 24, 1996

This amendment changes a retroactive provision of the bill to exclude the future maintenance and development of lands acquired for recreational or conservational purposes from the list of purposes that could be deemed to have been approved for the expenditure of revenue generated by an annual levy if the voters, prior to the effective date of this act, approved a proposition authorizing the acquisition of lands for conservation as open space or farmland. This exclusion would not apply, however, if the proposition was approved within the 24 months immediately preceding the date on which the bill is signed into law.

These amendments make this bill identical to Senate, Nos. 1110/1158 SCS (1R) of 1996.
