ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR

The Assembly Community Services Committee reports favorably an Assembly Committee Substitute for Assembly Bill No. 1996.
This committee substitute establishes an 18- month "Gambling and Food Addictions Education Pilot Program" in the Governor's Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
The Executive Director of the Governor's Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse shall develop an educational pilot program which shall contain information on compulsive behaviors such as gambling and food addiction. This pilot program shall be included by the Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse in its comprehensive educational and community awareness programs in three municipalities, one each in the northern, central and southern regions of the State.
Within 12 months of the date of enactment of this committee substitute, the executive director shall report to the Governor and the Legislature on the effectiveness of the pilot program and present recommendations for expanding the program Statewide, as appropriate.
