An Act concerning certification for local health officers to perform lead evaluation and supplementing P.L.1993, c.288 (C.26:2Q-1 et seq.).

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. Notwithstanding the provisions of P.L.1993, c.288 (C.26:2Q-1 et seq.) to the contrary, the requirement that a local health officer be certified in order to perform lead evaluation pursuant to section 3 of P.L.1993, c.288 (C.26:2Q-3) shall not take effect until one year after the date that the Commissioner of Health certifies to the President of the New Jersey Health Officers Association that training courses developed, offered or accredited by the Department of Health and required for certification pursuant to section 4 of P.L.1993, c.288 (C.26:2Q-4) are offered in every county in the State and are open for enrollment by any local health officer wishing to apply for certification.

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill amends P.L.1993, c.288 (C.26:2Q-1 et seq.) to provide that the requirement for a local health officer to be certified in order to perform lead evaluation pursuant to that law shall not take effect until one year after the date that the Commissioner of Health certifies to the President of the New Jersey Health Officers Association that training courses developed, offered or accredited by the Department of Health and required for certification pursuant to section 3 of P.L.1993, c.288 (C.26:2Q-3) are offered in every county in the State and are open for enrollment by any local health officer wishing to apply for certification.
