FISCAL NOTE TO

ASSEMBLY, No. 2095

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED: JUNE 25, 1996

Assembly Bill No. 2095 of 1996 directs the New Jersey Transit Corporation (NJT) to study the feasibility and cost of instituting rail passenger service from Weehawkin in Hudson County to Northvale in Bergen County.

NJT has indicated that it will study the rail service proposed in the referenced bill as part of a larger undertaking entitled, "West Shore Rail Line Restoration - Major Investment Study." The larger West Shore Study, financed with federal funds, began in April, 1996 and is due to be completed by May, 1997.

The Office of Legislative Services anticipates that NJT's larger study would meet the intent of this bill.
