STATE OF NEW JERSEY

An Act concerning roadside advertising and outdoor signs and supplementing P.L.1991, c.413 (C.27:5-5 et seq.).

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. Notwithstanding the provisions of P.L.1991, c.413 (C.27:5-5 et seq.) or any other law, rule or regulation to the contrary, the Commissioner of Transportation shall not issue or renew a permit for the erection, use and maintenance of a sign or other object to be used for outdoor advertising which would display advertising material promoting a tobacco product, the use thereof, the chewing, burning or smoking of a tobacco product or the brand name of a tobacco product.

 

    2. This act shall take effect 1[immediately and shall be retroactive to January 1, 1996] on the 60th day after enactment1. 

                             

Supplements "Roadside Sign Control and Outdoor Advertising Act" to prohibit outdoor advertising of tobacco products.
