DATED: JUNE 9, 1997

The Assembly Appropriations Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 2296 (1R).

Assembly Bill No. 2296 (1R) provides for an additional Superior Court judge, increasing the total number of judges of that court from 416 to 417 and increasing the total number of judges of the superior court who at the time of their appointment or reappointment were residents of Warren County from three to four. The bill also provides that all four of the judges appointed who were residents of Warren County at the time of appointment shall sit in Warren County; N.J.S.2B:2-1 currently requires that two of the current three sit in Warren County.

The bill appropriates $275,000 to the Administrative Office of the Courts for the costs of the additional judge.
