STATEMENT

This bill appropriates $10,000 to the Department of Community Affairs for a grant to the Women's Agenda of New Jersey for the "Women's Voices" project. The "Women's Voices" project, nationally sponsored by the Center for Policy Alternatives (CPA), seeks to increase women's civic participation, amplify women's voices in election debates and identify new strategies for persisting social and economic problems. The project involves conducting state specific "Women's Voices" polls simultaneously with a nationwide survey to identify women's key concerns and voices for solutions. Through partnerships with state organizations, the CPA will disseminate the survey findings, launch public education drives and develop a united agenda as well as state specific agendas that will be brought to the attention of political, business and opinion leaders. This grant will allow the Women's Agenda of New Jersey to collaborate with the CPA on this endeavor and provide for related expenses including national and State survey results, policy reports on findings, press release and campaign materials and technical assistance in developing State follow-up action plans from the CPA.
