A Supplement to "An Act making appropriations for the support of the State Government and the several public purposes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1997 and regulating the disbursement thereof," approved June 30, 1996 (P.L.1996, c.42).

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.1996, c.42, there is appropriated out of the General Fund the following sum for the purpose specified:

CAPITAL CONSTRUCTION

42 DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

 40 Community Development and Environmental Protection

46 Environmental Planning and Administration

Capital Project:

 

  Dredging and Restoration of Blackwood Lake ......

($250,000)

 

 

Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law to the contrary, the Department of Environmental Protection shall complete the dredging and restoration of Blackwood Lake within one year after the effective date of this act.

 

2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

      This bill makes a supplemental appropriation of $250,000 from the General Fund to the Department of Environmental Protection for the dredging and restoration of Blackwood Lake in Gloucester Township, Camden County. This appropriation will be used to restore Blackwood Lake to the historic recreational facility and wildlife refuge enjoyed by thousands for most of this century and to preserve the lake for future generations. Dredging work to remove silt, sediment and overgrowth of trees and brush in the lake bottom is intended to correct the current drainage systems. Repair of the existing dam gate system and auxiliary drainage pipe is intended to allow the level of the lake to be restored to it's original level. This capital project is to be completed by the department within one year after enactment of this bill.
