An Act concerning the New Jersey Transit Police Department and supplementing chapter 25 of Title 27 of the Revised Statutes.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. Notwithstanding any law, rule or regulation to the contrary, the New Jersey Transit Police Department shall coordinate policing and security responsibilities with the State Police in any park-and-ride lot or facility under the jurisdiction of the corporation on property owned by a toll road authority.

    As used in this act, "toll road authority" means the New Jersey Highway Authority, established pursuant to P.L.1952, c.16 (C.27:12B-1 et seq.); the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, established pursuant to P.L.1948, c.454 (C.27:23-1 et seq.); or the South Jersey Transportation Authority, established pursuant to P.L.1992, c.252 (C.27:25A-1 et seq.).

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill would require the New Jersey Transit Police Department to coordinate policing and security responsibilities with the State Police in any park-and-ride lot or facility under the jurisdiction of New Jersey Transit on property owned by the New Jersey Highway Authority, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, or the South Jersey Transportation Authority.

 

 

 

Requires NJT to coordinate policing of its park-and-ride facilities with State Police on property owned by a toll road authority.
