      The Assembly Appropriations Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 2343.

      Assembly Bill No. 2343 permits senior citizens and handicapped citizens to ride at reduced fares at all times. The current New Jersey Transit Corporation's Elderly and Handicapped Reduced Fare Program, permits senior citizens (age 62 and over) and handicapped citizens to ride at reduced fares during off-peak hours.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

      In the fiscal note to this bill, NJ Transit estimated a $5 million cost, of which, $3 million is forgone revenue and $2 million for reduced fare reimbursement payments to private carriers.
