STATEMENT

This bill clarifies the general law enforcement powers of campus police officers.

Similar to all other full time law enforcement officers accorded Statewide law enforcement powers, this bill would permit campus police officers to carry a firearm at all times, provided they have successfully completed a firearms training course administered by the Police Training Commission and thereafter annually qualify pursuant to the provisions of paragraph (10) of subsection c. of N.J.S.2C:39-6.
