      The Assembly Transportation and Communications Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 2796 with committee amendments.

      As amended by the committee this bill would permit municipalities and counties to reduce the 35-mile-an-hour speed limit in suburban business and residential districts without conducting a traffic study or obtaining State approval. The bill would also permit local governments to establish 25-mile-an-hour speed limit near parks and recreational facilities.

      The committee adopted a technical amendment to the bill.
