Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

    1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 11 of P.L.1995, c.108 (C.27:1B-21.4) or any other law to the contrary, the amount appropriated from the revenues and other funds of the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund Authority shall not be used to purchase office equipment.

STATEMENT

This bill would prohibit the amount appropriated from the revenues and other funds of the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund Authority to be used to purchase office equipment. The Department of Transportation has used monies from the Transportation Trust Fund for office equipment, such as computers. It is the sponsor's view that monies from the Transportation Trust Fund should be expended for construction of transportation projects and not office equipment.

The act would take effect immediately and apply to expenditures in the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1997 and thereafter.
