A Supplement to "An Act making appropriations for the support of the State Government and the several public purposes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1997 and regulating the disbursement thereof," approved June 28, 1996 (P.L.1996, c.42).

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.1996, c.42, there is appropriated out of the General Fund the following sum for the purpose specified:

20 PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH

22 Health Planning and Evaluation

4260 Division of Health Facilities Evaluation

      Emergency Medical Technician Training Fund .......

($2,000,000)

 

   The unexpended balance as of June 30, 1997, in this account is appropriated.

 

      2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

      This bill provides a supplemental appropriation of $2 million from the General Fund to the Emergency Medical Technician Training Fund, established pursuant to P.L.1992, c.143. This fund is established as a nonlapsing, revolving fund administered by the Commissioner of Health and Senior Services and is supported by a $.50 surcharge on each fine, penalty and forfeiture imposed and collected by the State for motor vehicle or traffic violations. Monies in the fund are used to reimburse any private agency, organization or entity which is certified by the commissioner to provide training and testing for volunteer ambulance, first aid and rescue squad personnel who are seeking EMT certification or recertification.
