An Act establishing a capital grants program for veterans’ organizations, supplementing chapter 3 of Title 38A of the New Jersey Statutes and making an appropriation.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. The Adjutant General of the Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs shall establish a program to provide grants and low-interest loans, not to exceed $10,000 per organization per year, to recognized veterans’ organizations to be used for capital repairs to the organizations’ facilities. This program shall be allocated $250,000 from the General Fund in the current fiscal year and in each of the following four fiscal years.

 

    2. There is appropriated $250,000 from the General Fund to the Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs for the purpose of providing grants and low-interest loans to veterans’ organizations to be used for capital repairs to their facilities.

 

    3. The Adjutant General of the Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs shall adopt regulations, pursuant to the “Administrative Procedure Act,” P.L.1968, c.410 (C.52:14B-1 et seq.), to effectuate the purposes of this act.

 

    4. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill directs the Adjutant General of the Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs to establish a program to provide grants and low-interest loans to recognized veterans’ organizations to be used for capital repairs to the organizations’ facilities. The bill allocates $250,000 from the General Fund in the current fiscal year and each of the following four fiscal years for this purpose and further appropriates the $250,000 allocation for the current fiscal year.
