A supplement to "An Act making appropriations for the support of the State Government and the several public purposes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1997 and regulating the disbursement thereof," approved June 28, 1996 (P.L.1996, c.42).
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.1996, c.42, there is appropriated out of the General Fund the following sum for the purpose specified:

2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This supplemental appropriation for $250,000 to the Department of Human Services, Office of Prevention of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities will provide a grant to the Coriell Institute for Medical Research, in conjunction with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, to establish a gene bank from which scientists may identify a possible gene for autism and subsequently find a cure for autism. Approximately 100 gene samples from siblings with autism would be able to be collected for further research with this appropriation.
Supplemental appropriation of $250,000 from the General Fund to DHS for a grant to Coriell Institute for Medical Research.
