SENATE EDUCATION COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

ASSEMBLY CONCURRENT RESOLUTION No. 15

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED: MAY 30, 1996

The Senate Education Committee reports favorably Assembly Concurrent Resolution Bill No. 15.

This concurrent resolution provides legislative approval for a non-revenue producing construction project at Rowan College, which is to be financed by long-term bonds issued by the New Jersey Educational Facilities Authority. The project includes the renovation of three administrative buildings and two academic buildings at a total cost of approximately $7 million.

Under the current statute, a project is deemed approved unless during the 60-day period after its submission to the Legislature, a concurrent resolution modifying or rejecting the proposal is approved. By adopting a concurrent resolution of approval without modification, the Rowan College project can be expedited as otherwise it would not be deemed approved until July 1, 1996, or if a House is not in session on that date, on the date of the next session.

This resolution is identical to Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 73.
