ASSEMBLY CONCURRENT RESOLUTION No. 63
STATE OF NEW JERSEY
INTRODUCED MARCH 4, 1996
By Assemblymen COTTRELL and MALONE
A Concurrent Resolution designating April 18-24, 1996 as "March of the Living Week" in the State of New Jersey to promote awareness of the Holocaust and to celebrate the survival of the Jewish people.
Whereas, Six million Jews were slaughtered in Europe during the years 1933-1945 in an event known as "the Holocaust," one of the most tragic episodes of history that this world has ever known; and
Whereas, Many citizens of this State experienced the suffering of the Holocaust themselves, or endured the deaths of loved ones as a result of atrocities systematically carried out against the Jewish people; and
Whereas, It is incumbent on all people to ensure that a genocide like the Holocaust never happens again; and
Whereas, The "March of the Living," a study tour of Poland and Israel designed to teach people about the horrors of the Holocaust and the triumph of the Jewish people over the greatest adversities, has been organized by the American Zionist Youth Foundation; and
Whereas, The "March of the Living" plays a vital role in keeping the memory of the Holocaust alive, thereby refuting the increasingly prevalent lie that the Holocaust never occurred; and
Whereas, The "March of the Living," by educating our youth, helps ensure that a Holocaust will never again occur; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey (the Senate concurring):
The Legislature of the State of New Jersey designates the week of April 18-24, 1996 as "March of the Living Week" in the State of New Jersey to show its support of this noble educational effort.
