STATE OF NEW JERSEY
INTRODUCED JUNE 10, 1996

An Assembly Resolution congratulating Benjamin Netanyahu upon his election as Prime Minister of Israel.
Whereas, On May 29, 1996, for the first time, the people of Israel voted separately for the prime minister and the Knesset; and
Whereas, Benjamin Netanyahu, at the age of 46 years, has been elected Israel's youngest Prime Minister and will be the eighth person to serve as Prime Minister since the founding of the State of Israel; and
Whereas, Mr. Netanyahu was born in Israel in October of 1949, making him not only the youngest Israeli Prime Minister, but also the first to be born after the state was founded in 1948; and
Whereas, Mr. Netanyahu, also an author, comes to office with service in the military, Israel's U.S. embassy, the United Nations, the Israeli cabinet, and the Knesset; and
Whereas, Mr. Netanyahu has ties to the United States because as a young man, while his father taught college, he completed high school in the Philadelphia area and later studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to earn a bachelor's degree in architecture and a master's degree in business administration; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. This House congratulates Benjamin Netanyahu upon his election as Prime Minister of the State of Israel.
2. A duly authenticated copy of this resolution, signed by the Speaker of the General Assembly and attested by the Clerk thereof, shall be transmitted to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
STATEMENT
This resolution congratulates Benjamin Netanyahu upon his election as Prime Minister of the State of Israel. Mr. Netanyahu, at the age of 46 years, is not only Israel's youngest Prime Minister, but also the first to be born after the state was founded in 1948.
Congratulates Israel's newly elected Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
