ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION No. 124

with Assembly Floor Amendments

(Proposed By Assemblyman DORIA)

ADOPTED: MAY 8, 1997

These amendments add a representative of the New Jersey Catholic Conference to the suggested membership of the Education Advisory Panel on Universal Service. The amendments also clarify that the appointments made to the panel by the President of the Senate, the Minority Leader of the Senate, the Speaker of the General Assembly, and the Minority Leader of the General Assembly shall be made from among the representatives outlined in sections 2 and 3 of the resolution and not just those contained in section 2.

The resolution urges the Board of Public Utilities to establish a broad-based advisory panel to advise the Board of Public Utilities on how to design and implement universal service policies and regulations to best meet the needs of New Jersey's students and expand access for schools, libraries, and colleges and universities to advanced telecommunications services.
