ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION No. 141

 

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

 

INTRODUCED MARCH 13, 1997

An Assembly Resolution designating April, 1997 as "Emergency Response Volunteer Month."

 

Whereas, The State of New Jersey has thousands of dedicated volunteers trained and skilled in responding to emergency medical situations, fires, man-made disasters and the violence of nature, such as hurricanes, tornadoes and floods, and who are on call 24 hours daily; and

Whereas, New Jersey's volunteer emergency responders selflessly give their free time to save lives and property and make our State a safer and healthier place in which to live; and

Whereas, Health and public safety organizations including the New Jersey First Aid Council, New Jersey State Volunteer Fireman's Association, American Red Cross, New Jersey Emergency Management Association, Salvation Army, and National Burn Victim Foundation, and industrial leaders such as Allied Signal, AT&T, BASF, Bristol-Myers Squibb, FL Aviation, General Electric, Johnson & Johnson, Merck & Company, Lucent Technologies, Novartis, PSE&G, Reliance Insurance, Schering Plough and Warner Lambert, have generously volunteered the use of their facilities and medical professionals to further enhance New Jersey's disaster response effectiveness; and

Whereas, The Legislature recognizes those committed individuals, organizations and corporations for sacrificing to benefit the residents of our State; now, therefore,

 

    Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. The month of April, 1997 is designated as "Emergency Response Volunteer Month" in the State of New Jersey to acknowledge the service and dedication of all emergency response volunteers who give generously of their time and skills.

 

    2. A duly authenticated copy of this resolution, signed by the Speaker of the General Assembly and attested to by the Clerk of the General Assembly shall be transmitted to the organizations and industrial leaders cited in this resolution.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This resolution designates April, 1997 as "Emergency Response Volunteer Month" in New Jersey, to show appreciation of the services provided to residents of this State by the thousands of dedicated volunteers trained and skilled in responding to emergency situations.
