ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION No. 155

 

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

An Assembly Resolution urging Congress and the President to terminate the services of Lordship Industries, Inc. as the nation's primary manufacturer of United States Military Medals.

 

Whereas, The United States awards military medals to the men and women of the Armed Forces in recognition of service, sacrifice, bravery and dedication to duty; and

Whereas, Lordship Industries, Inc. of Hauppauge, New York has earned $9 million annually through the manufacture of military medals for the United States government; and

Whereas, Lordship Industries betrayed the trust placed in it by the United States government by manufacturing and selling 300 unauthorized copies of the Medal of Honor, the nation's highest combat decoration; and

Whereas, These bogus medals have been represented as genuine military awards and offered for sale at military collectibles shows; and

Whereas, Lordship Industries has admitted to this wrongful conduct and been fined $80,000; and

Whereas, Despite its disgraceful actions, Lordship Industries continues to manufacture military medals for the United States government; and

Whereas, The honor conferred upon the rightful recipients of United States Military Medals should not be diminished by the distribution for commercial gain of unauthorized versions thereof; now, therefore,

    Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. This House urges Congress and the President to terminate the services of Lordship Industries, Inc. of Hauppage, New York as the nation's primary manufacturer of United States Military Medals.

 

    2. Duly authenticated copies of this resolution, signed by the Speaker of the General Assembly and attested by the Clerk thereof, shall be transmitted to the President of the United States, the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the majority and minority leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives and every member of Congress elected from this State.
