      The Assembly Health Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Assembly Resolution Bill No. 35.

      As amended by the committee, this resolution designates May 1997 as "Lyme Disease Awareness Month." The purpose of this resolution is to increase public awareness of Lyme Disease, an illness which is becoming a major health problem in New Jersey and throughout the United States.

      The committee amended the resolution to correct the date for "Lyme Disease Awareness Month" from May 1996 to May 1997, and to update the number of new Lyme Disease cases reported in New Jersey based upon the most current data available from the Department of Health and Senior Services.

      This bill was prefiled for introduction in the 1996-97 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review which has been performed.
