ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION No. 92

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

An Assembly Resolution designating the week of June 2nd through 8th, 1996 as "Small Business Week" in New Jersey.

Whereas, Small business constitutes the most innovative, dynamic and critical sector of our national economy; and

Whereas, Over 98 percent of the business establishments in the State of New Jersey qualify as small businesses, with each employing fewer than 500 workers, and these businesses are vital to the economic health and prosperity of the State as suppliers of goods and services, in industries such as health services, manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, transportation, communication, and professional, financial and other personal services; and

Whereas, The success of small business in New Jersey is vital to the interest of the State's economic prosperity and leadership; and

Whereas, The week of June 2nd through 8th, 1996 will be recognized nationally as "Small Business Week" with the theme "Small Business Week, Championing America's Entrepeneurs"; and

Whereas, It is fitting and proper that this State recognize the entrepeneurial spirit and the contributions of small business owners to the continued economic growth and development of the State; now, therefore,

    Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

    1. The week of June 2nd through 8th, 1996 is designated as "Small Business Week" in New Jersey.

    2. This House urges the people of New Jersey to participate in the observances of "Small Business Week" and to recognize the contributions of small business to the State's economy.

    3. This resolution, signed by the Speaker of the General Assembly and attested by the Clerk thereof, shall be transmitted to the Governor, the Commissioner of Commerce and Economic Development, the Director of the Division of Development for Small Businesses and Women and Minority Businesses and the Administrator of the federal Small Business Administration.
