SENATE LAW AND PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE
STATEMENT TO
SENATE, No. 193
STATE OF NEW JERSEY
DATED: FEBRUARY 22, 1996
The Senate Law and Public Safety Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 193.
The Director of the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) in the Department of Law and Public Safety may issue temporary permits to civic, religious, educational and veterans organizations to sell alcoholic beverages on designated premises. Although current law (R.S.33:1-74) limits the number of temporary permits allowed at designated premises to 25 in a calendar year, the director is authorized to provide for a lesser number at any such designated premises. This bill would exempt municipal and other government-owned facilities from these restrictions on the number of permits issued.
This bill was prefiled for introduction in the 1996 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review which has been performed.
