SENATE, No. 201

with committee amendments

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED: DECEMBER 9, 1996

The Assembly Senior Issues, Tourism and Gaming Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Senate, No. 201 (1R).

This bill repeals the law establishing a "Charity Racing Day for the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial" and replaces that charity day with a "Charity Racing Day for the Horse Park of New Jersey and for the Care of Retired Horses." Fifty percent of the funds received by the Racing Commission from its share of the parimutuel pools on those charity racing days at the New Jersey racetracks shall be appropriated to the Department of Agriculture to be used as a grant to the Horse Park of New Jersey, and 50% shall be appropriated to the Department of Agriculture for grants to organizations which care for retired racehorses. The bill would take effect on July 1, 1998.

COMMITTEE AMENDMENT

The committee amended the bill to provide that it will take effect on July 1, 1998 rather than on July 1, 1997.
