SENATE STATE GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE
STATEMENT TO
SENATE, No. 213
STATE OF NEW JERSEY
DATED: JUNE 20, 1996
The Senate State Government Committee reports without recommendation Senate Bill No. 213.
This bill repeals the current transfer inheritance tax and the sections of law that apply to the collection and administration of the tax. If enacted, this legislation would remove the inheritance tax on Class C and D beneficiaries. A Class C beneficiary is a brother, sister, son-in-law or daughter-in-law. Class D beneficiaries are all others. The other classes of beneficiaries have been exempted during past years.
This bill was prefiled for introduction in the 1996 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
