      The Senate Community Affairs Committee reports favorably Senate, No. 239.

      This bill would authorize a municipality to satisfy its third quarter county tax obligation in three installments under certain circumstances. The bill specifically addresses the situation faced by a municipality when a county board of taxation has failed to fill out a table of aggregates for that municipality by July 1. Under such circumstances, a municipality would be authorized to satisfy the third-quarter county tax obligation, normally due on August 15, in three equal payments due by August 30, September 20, and October 15.

      This bill was prefiled for introduction in the 1996 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review which has been performed.
