The NATURAL RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Committee reports favorable Senate Bill No. 243.      The Senate Natural Resources and Economic Development committee favorably reports Senate Bill No. 243.

      This bill provides the legislative authorization needed by the Delaware River and Bay Authority, in consultation with Jersey Fruit Packing Cooperative, Inc., to construct and finance a fruit packing facility in Upper Deerfield Township, Cumberland County, New Jersey and includes language detailing the estimated costs of land purchase, building construction, equipment purchase and miscellaneous site improvements of the project.

      The "Delaware-New Jersey Compact," P.L.1961, c.66 (C.32:11E-1) was amended in 1989 to authorize the Delaware River and Bay Authority to undertake economic development projects in Delaware and certain counties in New Jersey, including Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem. Section 1 of P.L.1989, c.191 (C.32:11E-1.1) requires the authority to obtain legislative approval and authorization prior to undertaking a specific project in New Jersey.The NATURAL RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Committee reports favorable Senate Bill No. 123.

      This bill was pre-filed for introduction in the 1996-1997 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
