This bill appropriates $2,236,000 in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime to the Department of Law and Public Safety for crime victim assistance and compensation programs of the Violent Crimes Compensation Board (VCCB). Funds for this award come from federal criminal fines, penalty assessments, and bond forfeitures, which are collected by the U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the U.S. Courts and deposited into the Crime Victims Fund. These federal monies would provide direct support to victims of violent crime for the two-year period which began October 1, 1995. This federal grant award is based on the amount of the State's expenditures by the VCCB for crime victim assistance and compensation programs in the previous fiscal year.
Supplemental appropriation of $2,236,000 in federal funds for VCCB crime victim assistance and compensation.
