A Supplement to “An Act making appropriations for the support of the State Government and the several public purposes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1996 and regulating the disbursement thereof,” approved June 30, 1995 (P.L.1995, c.164).

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.1996, c.164, there is appropriated out of the General Fund the following sum for the purpose specified:

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill provides a supplemental appropriation of $342,525 to the Camden Aquatic Science Adventurers Program. This program will be administered by the New Jersey Academy for Aquatic Sciences, a private non-profit governing body of the Thomas H. Kean New Jersey State Aquarium. The program is designed to provide enrichment of environmental science education at the 23 elementary schools in the Camden City public system through in-service teacher education, materials development and direct service to all classes of 5th grade students both at the aquarium and through outreach programming. Each class will receive a minimum of four environmental science lessons each month. These students will also visit the aquarium for a class lesson once a semester and participate in a relevant field observation and exploration once a year.
