SENATE, No. 82

with Senate Floor Amendments

(Proposed By Senator BASSANO)

ADOPTED: JUNE 27, 1996

These amendments raise the required grade point average of a high school student from 3.0 to 3.6 to be eligible to participate in the dual enrollment program established under the bill. The program would offer high school students an opportunity to attend college courses for high school and college credit. In addition, these amendments require that prior to a student participating in this program, school officials in conjunction with the parents and student, agree that the student's academic performance and maturity demonstrate the ability to undertake college level coursework. Finally, these amendments eliminate the provision that a student with less than a 3.0 grade point average may participate in the program on the basis of the recommendation of the school principal.
