INTRODUCED JANUARY 29, 1996
By Senator HAINES

STATEMENT
This bill repeals the provision in current law (N.J.S.A.19:44A-37) which permits each candidate for the office of Governor to submit to the Election Law Enforcement Commission a statement of no more than 500 words. Under this provision, the statements are submitted to each county clerk on or before the 45th day prior to the day of the general election so that they may be incorporated into the sample ballot which is mailed to each voter prior to the general election.
Repeals requirement that gubernatorial candidate statements be mailed with sample ballot.
