An Act concerning leaves of absence for certain State employees and supplementing Title 11A of the New Jersey Statutes.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. Any State employee in the career, senior executive or unclassified service who is a certified American Red Cross disaster service volunteer may be granted a leave of absence with pay and without loss of rights, privileges and benefits and without interruption of membership in any retirement system of the State to participate in specialized disaster relief services for the American Red Cross. This leave shall be granted upon the request of the American Red Cross for the services of that employee and upon the approval of the employee's appointing authority. The paid leave granted pursuant to this act shall be for no more than 30 work days in a calendar year. Any authorized leave shall not be cumulative and any unused leave shall be cancelled at the end of the calendar year.

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT
