An Act concerning State employees and supplementing Title 11A of the New Jersey Statutes.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. A permanent employee of the State who is offered the opportunity, in lieu of layoff, to transfer to the same or a comparable title, or to accept demotion to a lower title, within the layoff unit shall be allowed a minimum of 24 hours during which to decide whether to accept a particular transfer or demotion.

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill provides that a permanent State employee who is offered the opportunity, in lieu of layoff, to transfer to the same or a comparable title, or to accept demotion to a lower title, within the layoff unit shall have at least 24 hours during which to decide whether to accept a particular transfer or demotion.

 

 

                             

Provides that State employee who is permitted to transfer or accept demotion in lieu of layoff will have 24 hours to decide whether to accept a particular transfer or demotion.
