An Act 1[to provide] concerning1 workers' compensation coverage for associate and auxiliary members of volunteer fire companies and supplementing chapter 15 of Title 34 of the Revised Statutes.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. 1[As used in this chapter:

    "Member of a volunteer fire company" includes any associate or auxiliary member of the company; and

    "Volunteer fireman" includes any member of a volunteer fire company.]

    a. The governing body of a municipality or the committee of a fire district may provide compensation insurance for associate or auxiliary members of a volunteer fire company who are injured or die on duty.

    b. Compensation for injury and death, either or both, of any associate or auxiliary member of a voluntary fire company shall be based upon a weekly salary or compensation conclusively presumed to be received by such person in an amount sufficient to entitle him, or, in the event of his death, his dependents, to receive the maximum compensation authorized by chapter 15 of Title 34 of the Revised Statutes.1

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

 

Allows workers' compensation coverage for associate and auxiliary members of volunteer fire companies.
