      The Senate Commerce Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Senate Bill No. 646.

      This bill, as amended, provides that the governing body of a municipality or the committee of a fire district may provide compensation insurance for associate or auxiliary members of a volunteer fire company.

      Auxiliary members and associate members of volunteer fire companies who are covered would be entitled to the maximum level of compensation authorized by the workers' compensation law.
