An Act concerning exemptions from bans on travel during states of emergency declared by the Governor and supplementing P.L.1942, c.251 (C.App.A:9-33 et seq).

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. Television, radio or newspaper reporters and their related support staff and drivers of newspaper delivery trucks shall be exempt from any ban on non-essential travel in the performance of their work in this State during a state of emergency declared by the Governor pursuant to the emergency powers conferred on the Governor by P.L.1942, c.251 (C.App.A:9-33 et seq.), as amended and supplemented, or any other provision of law.

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately .

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill provides that television, radio or newspaper reporters and their related support staff and drivers of newspaper delivery trucks shall be exempt from any ban on non-essential travel in the performance of their work in this State during a state of emergency declared by the Governor. It is important that such reporters and drivers be allowed to travel throughout the State in order to keep the public informed of emergency conditions.
