STATE OF NEW JERSEY

An Act concerning exemptions from bans on travel during states of emergency declared by the Governor and supplementing P.L.1942, c.251 (C.App.A:9-33 et seq).

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

           1. 1a.1 Television, radio or newspaper reporters and their related support staff 1[and],1 drivers of newspaper delivery trucks 1, on-air broadcast personnel and the technical and support staff of FCC licensed stations, and public utility employees deemed essential as provided in subsection b. of this section1 shall be exempt from any ban on non-essential travel in the performance of their work in this State during a state of emergency declared by the Governor pursuant to the emergency powers conferred on the Governor by P.L.1942, c.251 (C.App.A:9-33 et seq.), as amended and supplemented, or any other provision of law.

    1b. Each public utility shall determine which of its employees are essential for providing safe, adequate and proper service whenever any ban on non-essential travel is imposed during a state of emergency declared by the Governor.

    As used in this subsection, "public utility" has the meaning prescribed for that term by R.S.48:2-13; and "safe, adequate and proper service" has the meaning prescribed for that term by R.S.48:2-23.1

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.
