STATEMENT
This bill would appropriate $2.0 million to the Department of Environmental Protection for the purchase of seven thorium-contaminated homes in Wayne, New Jersey. The contamination stems from the former W.R. Grace plant on Black Oak Ridge Road in Wayne, where various chemicals were processed to make lighting devices and optics. It is estimated that 110,000 cubic yards of soil became contaminated during 23 years from the materials, including thorium, used in the manufacturing process.
Appropriates $2.0 million for purchase of thorium-contaminated homes in Wayne.
