A Supplement to "An Act making appropriations for the support of the State Government and the several public purposes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1996 and regulating the disbursement thereof," approved June 30, 1995 (P.L.1995 c.164).

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.1995, c.164, there is appropriated out of the General Fund the following sum for the purpose specified:

 

 

CAPITAL CONSTRUCTION

42 DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

40 Community Development and Environmental Management

42 Natural Resource Management

Capital Projects:

 

   Passaic River Basin Channel Clearing,

 

     Little Falls to Two Bridges.....................................................................

$8,300,000

 

      2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

      This bill would appropriate $8.3 million to the Department of Environmental Protection to dredge the Passaic River between Beattie's dam and the upstream bridges as authorized in the federal Water Resources Development Act of 1986. The project involves snagging, clearing and channel rectification measures along the Passaic River to the Pompton River, along the Pompton River to and including the Pompton Feeder and along the Ramapo River to the Pompton Lakes dam and along tributaries of such river.

      The $8.3 million appropriation represents the 25% State matching


portion required for the project authorized by the Water Resources Development Act of 1986.
