SENATE LAW AND PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

SENATE, No. 805

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED: JUNE 6, 1996

The Senate Law and Public Safety Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 805.

Current law requires all alcoholic beverage labels to be registered with the Director of the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control. This bill would allow those wine labels that have been approved by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to be deemed registered and approved in New Jersey, and would eliminate the registration fees for those labels. The bill, which is modeled on a New York statute, would eliminate brand registration for wine only.
