An Act. concerning certain sales of electricity and supplementing Title 48 of the Revised Statutes.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. The provisions of any other law, or rule or regulation adopted pursuant thereto, to the contrary notwithstanding, the Board of Public Utilities, in fixing just and reasonable rates pursuant to R.S. 48:2-21, shall fix the rates of electricity generated outside the boundaries of this State and purchased by an electric utility for sale to ratepayers in this State at a per kilowatt-hour price equal to the average per kilowatt-hour price of electricity generated within the franchise area of the electric utility which purchased the electricity.

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill would provide that the Board Of Public Utilities would be required to fix the rates of electricity generated outside the boundaries of this State and purchased by an electric utility for sale to ratepayers in this State at a per kilowatt-hour price equal to the average per kilowatt-hour price of electricity generated within the franchise area of the electric utility which purchased the electricity.
