SENATE LAW AND PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

SENATE, No. 898

with committee amendments

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED: OCTOBER 7, 1996

The Senate Law and Public Safety Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Senate Bill No. 898.

This bill would permit plenary retail distribution licensees (package goods stores) and hotels and restaurants holding plenary retail consumption licenses to conduct wine tastings and samplings on their premises. The Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control would promulgate rules and regulations governing the operation of the tastings and samplings in order to assure the public that no abuses will result.

The committee amendments are technical in nature.
