SENATE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

SENATE, No. 937

with committee amendments

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED: MARCH 3, 1997

The Senate Transportation Committee favorably reports Senate Bill No. 937 with committee amendments.

This bill, as amended by the committee, directs the New Jersey Turnpike Authority to designate the New Jersey Turnpike-Pennsylvania Extension in Burlington county as the "Pearl Harbor Memorial Turnpike Extension." At present, New Jersey does not have a Pearl Harbor memorial. The designation provided for in this bill would be a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives as a result of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The committee amended the bill by limiting the designation of the "Pearl Harbor Memorial Turnpike Extension" to the Pennsylvania Extension in Burlington county rather than designating the entire New Jersey Turnpike as the "Pearl Harbor Memorial Turnpike."
