SENATE ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

SENATE, No. 987

with committee amendments

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED: OCTOBER 28, 1996

The Senate Environment Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 987 with committee amendments.

This bill, as amended, would appropriate $2,235,928 from the "Stormwater Management and Combined Sewer Overflow Abatement Bond Act of 1989" to the Department of Environmental Protection for the purpose of providing grants to the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commissioners, which are authorized by statute to collect, treat and dispose of sewage for municipalities in parts of Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union counties, for financing the cost of the planning of combined sewer overflow abatement projects.

The committee amendments, which would make the bill identical to Assembly Bill No. 1732 (1R), would reduce the appropriation from $2,484,364 to $2,235,928.
